A soft sigh left his lips as he made his way down the hallway. It had been a few days since he had heard from Axel, and that wasn't all that was bugging him, though that seemed to be the majority of it. He shut his locker and slowly moved to his classroom, supposedly there was a new kid joining th class today and he wondered whether or not they would wind up being friends or enemies like he was with almost everyone else.
You see, he was a very simple type of person. Very shy, very timid, and not one to actually go about making friends. He was a very easy target for many to pick on, mainly because of his straight A's and hard working nature. Truth was he hated everything about school and couldn't wait for it to be over....

She walked down the hall fidgeting with her hair and staring at the floor, avoiding any unnecessary eye contact. Clutching her books tight to her chest she moved through the crowd attempting to not run into the many other students in the hallway. She hated being in an unfamiliar place and not knowing anyone. It made her uncomfortable and put her on edge. If only she had some friends so she wouldn't feel alone in a building full of strangers. She shook her head. Who would want to get to know her? She was too quiet, too distant. These were the things she always heard from others, and yet she didn't care. 'Oh, well', she thought, 'maybe they will at least have a decent library'. She adjusted her books to get a better look at her schedule, double checking the number of the classroom she needed. She nearly collided with a group of obnoxious jocks and narrowly avoided hitting a locker in the process of moving around the bunch of young men. She looked down again, brushing the hair out of her eyes before crashing into a boy outside of the room she had been looking for. Books flew in every direction. "I....I'm sorry....so s...sorry", she stammered out as she bent down and began retrieving her lost belongings, bright red.

''Oof..." That was really about all he could say as well. He had dropped most of his things as well and helped her pick hers up as he went down to gather his stuff too. "Uhh. Not a problem." He said softly. He had bumped into people an awful lot his first few days here as well. "Huh. Never seen you before. You must be the new kid." He wondered a bit how many times she had heard that today. He grinned and offered his hand out to her. "I'm Akira."

Her hair fell across her eyes as she gathered the rest of her things. "T....thank you....I'm new." She shook her head realizing she probably sounded like an imbecile by answering his question with an obvious statement. She blushed deeper when she realized he was still speaking to her. Should she acknowledge the fact that he was introducing himself and maybe make a friend, or continue going in the lonely direction she was currently traveling in? It would be nice to have at least one friend, and this boy seemed nice enough. He hadn't acted like she was diseased when she bumped into him and he even helped her get her stuff back. She decided to take the chance and reply to his kind words. She clutched her belongings tighter to hide the shaking in her hands as the brushed her hair out of her face and raised her brown eyes to meet his. "I'm Karina." She said softly, still getting over the shock of making eye contact with her first person that day. She took his hand softly praying he wouldn't notice her trembling. Meeting people was always hard for her...

He grinned and placed his other hand on top of hers. "It's alright to be nervous. I've been going here for 2 years now and got used to it." He smiled and walked into the classroom, taking his seat near the back. He really didn't even have to pay attention to the teacher, who introduced the new student, told her to take a seat, then moved on with his lesson. Akira, meanwhile sat in the back drawing in a notebook and not paying attention to the English lesson. He knew English well enough not to need it.

Of course she would get seated in the middle of the room. What else was to be expected for a student who was nervous around people she didnt know. She shifted uncomfortably, crossing and uncrossing her legs while twirling a pencil in her hand. She attemped to listen to the teacher, she was terrible at English and knew she should have been taking notes instead of sneaking glances at the nice boy from the hall instead. He was the only person in the entire school who had spoken to her so far, so naturally it made her more curious as to who he was. She blushed, realizing she had been staring at him, focusing her gaze instead on the cover of her closed notebook. She opened it, making another attempt to take some much-needed notes and pay attention to the instructor. Her mind wandered as she zoned out, staring at the front bored without comprehending what was on it. Realizing paying attention was going to be too hard for her she wrote 'Fail Notes' in large, embellished letters at the top of the page and filled the rest with random doodles.

Akira was zoning of into space when the teacher called on him. He recited the paragraph in perfect English and moved on to the next page of drawing in his notebook. Many of the student were calling him a show off, but that's just how he was. He grew up in London after all. He noticed the girl staring at him, but said nothing to her, after all, they were a few spots apart.

Her eyes widened as she heard his voice forming the words she could barely comprehend. Well she now knew one thing about him, he apparently was exceptionally good at English. She put her head on her desk. She was never going to pass this class without help. She mumbled various curses in her notebook before realizing she was getting funny looks from those around her. She blushed and picked her head off her desk and leaned it on her hand, doodling until the bell rang, signaling the end of class.

Akira got many glares by the end of class, as he was the only one in English with an A. He smiled brightly and made his way out into the hallway. The teacher grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him back in, wanting to talk to him. He nodded and waited for the rest of the class to leave before asking the new girl to stay as well. "I would like the two of you to work together for the next little project."

She glanced nervously at the teacher, thinking she was in some sort of trouble. "What kinda project?" she quietly asked, the relief clearly visible on her face.

The teacher smiled a little and handed them each a sheet of paper, both English and Japanese instructions. Akira's eyes went straight to the English ones, since Japanese symbols made him dizzy. He sighed and read over the directions. Jobs were prohibited in Japanese schools. Yet he had one. So how exactly would he make the excuse to not do this project with another person? Another soft sigh. "This project is not that complicated I could do it completely alone. Sign her up with someone else...."
"But she's new and you're the best student in the class. I want you to do it. End of story. Don't do it, I'll fail your course grade."
Threats. And all of them made in English. Akira growled and gripped the paper in his fingers.

Karina looked over the Japanese instructions, not moving. It was a project she could manage but help would be nice. It'd just mean working less hours. Hearing English she looked up trying to understand what was said. She may not have understood most of what had been said but she knew it wasn't a pleasant conversation. "Uh, sir," she said quietly to the teacher, "I'm sure I could manage this project on my own. Really." She shifted from foot to foot staring at the floor.

He looked over at her and nearly laughed. "The whole thing has to be done in English. I know he could manage it by himself, and usually he does. He's not much of a people person." The teacher smiled. Akira glared at the teacher and huffed, picking up his backpack and walking out. He wasn't too happy about this. Not one bit. "Fine I'll do it, but you owe me for this. I speak better English than you do." He growled at the teacher. After all, it was the truth. "Now if you don't mind I'm late to science class."

"Uh, okay...." She stared at Akira as he walked away. "Well he didn't seem very happy," She mumbled to herself. She said goodbye to the teacher and continued on her way. Unfolding her schedule she checked her next class. Walking to the class room, she apologized for her tardiness. Brown eyes scanned the room, attempting to locate an empty seat in the full classroom. Her eyes found the single empty chair and she smiled as she made her way to it. Noticing who was in the chair next to her, however, she became a little nervous. It was that Akira boy. He didn't seem to happy with getting put on the project with her last period. She didn't want to be more of a bother to him in another class as well. She sat and quietly opened her note book, focusing her attention on the front of the classroom.

He sighed and looked down at the book, flipping through the pages. Why should he even bother anymore? He looked as she, the same one from last period, made her way to the only empty seat, right next to him, once more. Well at least this class she probably wouldn't need much of his help with, the instructions were all in Japanese. He just paid attention to the lecture, took some shorthand notes and went back to flipping through the book. "So. I suppose we have to work together for that damn English project." He almost spat it out. "Not at my house though."
