the both of them has this delicate balance, which had nearly been broken the moment haruhi and her brother had been adopted by a new set of parents after their old ones had decided to give them up. this was about three years ago, and the two of them haven't been the same ever since. they'd been pretty strong, optimistic beings up until that day, and now haruhi's the only one who can keep her brother from becoming insane - because lord knows that he's on the verge of it.
knowing that she can't pursue glories of fame with this responsibility, she'd decided to take a course in biology instead - even if it broke her heart in two.
